Maggie
Mcguire
was born in New York, and grew up on Long Island, where she
showed hunters and dressage. She earned a degree in large animal
science at the state of New York University in Dehli. After
that she taught lessons and trained horses on Long Island for
7 years.
While
married to her husband, his work took them to live in Germany.
Maggie quickly learned German and took up riding in Germany.
She lived and trained in Germany for 9 years.
The
couple then moved back to the U.S., settling in South Carolina.
Maggie formed a small training stable, which she operated for
5 years. During the Florida season in 2000, Maggie and friend
were watching a competition and her friend recognized Dr. Cesar
Parra from his time competing in Germany. Maggie introduced
herself and invited Dr. Parra to teach clinics at her training
stable in South Carolina. Dr. Parra taught clinics there 6 times
a year, and finally in 2001, Maggie joined Dr. Parra in full-time
training. Now Maggie is one of the clients who makes the bi-annual
trek from New Jersey in the summers to Florida in the winters.
Maggie
currently has two wonderful horses. Renegate
is an East German bred Warmblood by Roccodero. Maggie bought
him in Germany as a resale horse because he was so easy to ride
and train. It is for this very reason that she decided not to
sell him. They are currently showing Prix St. Georges. Maggie
purchased her mare, Gandola Gigi, as a 2 year old
who was 2 weeks under saddle. Maggie also found Gigi in Germany.
Gigi is a Baden-Wertenberger mare by Ganymede out of a Don Carlos
mare. After many years as a sucessful performance horse, Gigi
is currently enjoying her new found carreer as a broodmare;
eating, sleeping, and turning out. Her first foal is due in
spring 2005.
Maggies
hobbies include decorating, cooking, entertaining and keeping
up with her two dogs who can go from absolute obedient loves
to escaped convicts in no time flat.
