Emmy Adwers was born into a life of travel and change. Emmy was born in Los Angeles, California to a screenwriter mom and a lawyer dad. When Emmy was 9, her mother decided Emmy should learn her independence and sent Emmy to live with an unrelated family of a railroad worker in England for 6 months. Emmy was enrolled in various experimental learning schools, such as one where the class sang bingo in a church basement every day. Then the family went on location with her mother’s films, leading to schooling in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and stays in Mexico and New York City.

Emmy studied Economics in college at the University of San Diego, where she was a Macroeconomics teaching assistant and worked as a horse trainer and part-time security guard on campus parties. In 1986, while at UCSD she was able to ride on the region 7 team for young riders, bringing back the first of many team gold medals for that region. Emmy went on to earn an MBA, with a focus on Finance, at USC, and then a CFA (chartered financial analyst). For the past 10 years Emmy has been an equity analyst and portfolio manager focusing solely on technology stocks.

Emmy got her first horse, a Morgan/Arab called Joker, at age 11. Emmy and Joker competed in Western, Gymkhana, English, Hunters and Jumpers, Drill (jumping courses with 7 other riders with no bridles or saddles, only a wire around the horse’s neck), dressage, and 3 Day Eventing. Joker was Emmy’s mother’s companion and salvation during her final illness. Joker remained in the family until his death at 31 years old.

Emmy trained with Dietrich Von Hopffgarten of Langley, Canada for 19 years. Emmy joined Dr. Cesar Parra in july of 2001, having never shown higher than PSG, and not having done that since 1987. Within 2 months Emmy was high score adult amateur at 4th level at dressage at Devon riding her former horse Martinique. Within 6 months Dr. Parra found Ali Baba and trained Martinique, such that both horses were competing at Intermediare 1 in January of 2002. One year later Dr. Parra had Emmy showing two horses at the Grand Prix level.

Currently Emmy owns Ali Baba and PF Robinson. Alibaba is a 1989 Danish Warmblood gelding by Alibi out of Hjerte dame XX. Robinson is a 1990 Oldenberg gelding by Rubenstein I out of Lamorata by Zeus. She competes both horses at Grand Prix. In 2002 Emmy and Ali Baba were region 8 adult amateur Champions at PSG and Intermediare I. In 2003, Ali Baba and Emmy were #1 USDF at Grand Prix for adult amateurs for the country, region 8 open champions at Grand Prix and Intermediare II, and Emmy earned her Gold Medal on Ali Baba.
