Ashley M.V. Peterson, hails from Oyster Bay, New York. Currently entering her sophomore year in college. At the age of 2, Ashley began to ask to ride and by 8 her grandparents chipped in to buy Ashley her first pony. Throughout the years, Ashley received a C-2 pony club rating, competed in Preliminary eventing and showed her ponies on the A circuit hunters as well as the high jumpers. When Ashley was 12, she realized her true passion was dressage and began to set her goals accordingly. She bought, trained and sold her ponies and horses in order to purchase her first FEI horse, an 8 year old Dutch Warmblood named Augustus.
Ashley's accomplishments include five time Gold Medalist at Lendon's Youth Dressage Festival (formerly the Northeast Junior Young Rider Championships) in Training, First, Third, Fourth and FEI Juniors. She received the Boyer's Cup for high point FEI Junior Rider, the Beppo Award as well as the Hermes High Score Equitation Trophy. Ashley is multiple Year End Champion for Long Island Dressage and Combined Training Association from Training through the FEI levels. Ashley has received The Shining Star Award for good sportsmanship from the FEI Jr. Council and USDF Youth Executive Board.
In 2004, Ashley and Augustus were ranked fourth in the nation by USDF at fourth level separated from the first place by less than a point. They won every class they competed in at Third Level, Fourth Level and FEI Juniors. They won both the Third and Fourth Level Championships at the USDF Region 8 Championships. They won the Dressage Seat Equitation Medal Semi-Finals for Region 8 and went on to become a bronze medalist at the Finals a year later. Ashley received her bronze and silver medal and ranked 11th place individually at the North American Young Rider Championships in 2005. In 2005, Ashley was selected as one of four Young Riders from across the United States to participate in The Dressage Foundation Advanced Young Rider Olympic Dream Program. She traveled to Europe and visited the barns of Klaus Balkenhol, Ingrid Klimke, Jean Bemelman and the Theodorescu's. Ashley also attended the European Young Rider Championship in Milan, Italy.
Ashley represents Region 8 on the USDF Youth Executive Board and has been a member for four years. She has been a working student for Lendon Gray since she was 16 and has also worked for Gunnar Ostergaaurd. Ashley enjoys taking clinics with many different trainers and has worked with; Conrad Schumacher, Anne Gribbons, Michael Page, Trip Harding, Conrad Homfield, Albrecht Hiedleman, and Sue Blinks. She hopes to continue her education in dressage, hopes to become a USDF certified instructor and judge as well as compete Grand Prix. Recently purchased Mozaiek, a 17.1 hand grey gelding from Performance Forms and plans on showing him Prix St. Georges.
